The Scanning Workflow Problem
Flatbed scanners produce one file per page. Scan a 15-page document and you get 15 separate PDFs. Some scanners have automatic document feeders that create multi-page files, but cheap home scanners don't. You end up with a folder of individual page files.
Phone scanning apps (like Apple's built-in scanner or Google Drive's scan feature) create separate files too. Scanning receipts, ID documents, or multi-page forms on your phone means you need to merge after.
Scanned documents are almost always image-heavy, so the combined file gets large fast. A typical color scan at 300 DPI runs about 3MB per page. Merge 10 pages and you're at 30MB. Run the merged file through the compressor afterward to bring it down to a reasonable size.
